Let them know more about camping.

When you hear the word camping, one of the misconceptions is that you set-up a camp, light fires and do all those activities that you find in survival reality shows and this is something that not everyone enjoys. The truth of the matter is that camping is not just all about that. There are so many things that you can do while you are camping. In fact, you can have have a party, cook together, enjoy good food, have some drinks and play different games. Tell them about the different things that you guys can do on a camping activity. It can definitely be fun and casual.

Entice them with food.

One thing to love about camping is that you get to have communal dining experience not to mention that you can also cook your own food. Tempt and entice your friends who like being at home to enjoy this unique food experience. Instead of just going for a take out, why not experience something new. Entice your friends to go out camping so they can enjoy cooked meals, grilled meat and seafoods, sweet desserts and a whole lot more. For sure, they will change their mind.

Help in the camping preparations.

Planning is difficult especially for first time campers. So, help your friend and take away the hassle of doing the preparations. This is very useful as you can make camping more fun and interesting. In helping your friends, they don’t have any excuse as they do not have to worry about anything but just to say yes. Prepare the schedule, get the food and gas up the vehicle.

Lend them the things they need.

Camping requires you to invest in gear and other tools. For those who have not yet tried going out on a camp, it can be a big impediment. If they do not have any sleeping bags, tents or other camping tools, you can lend a hand and lend them some of your gear. In that way, they no longer have to worry about the things that they need.

Assure them that campgrounds have flush toilets.

Let’s face it whenever you tell your indoorsy friends about camping, they always have fears as to whether they can cope and it is comfortable. For one, there are some who think that there are no flush toilets. The best way is to assure your friends that there are flush toilets and they can have the comforts of home even when they are in the camping ground.

Go out on a day hike.

As with any full course meal, it actually helps to convince your indoorsy friends that they get to have a glimpse or a taste of how it is like to be outdoors. Take them on a nice day hike. When they get fresh air and see nice views, they get to develop a taste for the great outdoors and this is the start.

Go camping in fall or spring.

When going on a camp, select the perfect time. It is advisable that you go camping in fall or spring. Summer is also a good time to camp, but your indoorsy friends might be discouraged with the scorching heat of the sun.

Lastly, ambush your friends as they leave for work on a Friday. Being spontaneous is definitely a good thing, so they no longer have the time to worry and say no.

Camping And The Forgotten Rules

When you are in the camping site, you have to follow the rules and regulations. These rules are created for everyone to see. However, there are rules that are not discussed. Quiet Time

Few may not be aware but there are actually certain hours in camping sites where there is a so-called “quiet time”. During this period of time, you should keep any kind of noise to a minimum. Unfortunately, few people are aware of this rule. Be aware of this rule and do not play any music too loudly. You would not want for other campers to come to you and request to minimize the noise. When you are playing any music, even if it is not quiet time, you should be aware of your surroundings. Some people do not like to be disturbed so you should be careful whenever you play your music. Set the volume for you, not the people around you, since you do not want to cause any problems with other campers nearby.

Find the right place to do dishes.

Whenever you go to the bathroom in campgrounds, you often notice that there are some people doing their dishes. This is something that most people are not comfortable seeing, but then again there are still people who do it. Cleaning the dishes especially if it is not in a kitchen is definitely a big no.
But you can do dishes even when you are in a campsite. You just have to be aware of the surroundings. You do not just use any soap. Make sure that your choice of soap is biodegradable and it is suitable for outdoor use. The next step is to search for a place where the water will not leak.

Do not bring your own firewood.

If you are planning to have fire at the camping site, you do not have to bring with you your own wood. This can actually cause more damage than what it appears to be especially since you can bring bacteria and insects with these woods. So, it helps that you just buy firewood in the place where you want to camp.

Taking Care of Your Pet

In deciding to take your pet with your in camping ground, you cannot just let your dog to go into the woods and do their thing. Some may think that there is nothing wrong with that. But then again, even if you let your dog wander into the woods, you still need to clean the waste. Keep in mind that you have to be aware of the fact that you want to maintain cleanliness in the ecosystem.

Do not leave food at night.

Camping is a perfect setting where you can enjoy your meals in a fire setting. Most of the time campers just enjoy their food, pass out and end up leaving the food behind. If you are in a camping ground, make sure that you do not leave any food behind as this may attract animals and can be really dangerous.

Camping In The Summer – With Kids

Most people would prefer to go camping during fall or spring. But for kids, summer season is the time for camping since kids are out of school and you get the chance to take some days off work. For kids, summer is the perfect season since the weather is pleasant and it is very sunny. Here are some useful tips that you can use:

Find the perfect spot where you can set up a camp.

Find a place under the trees, so you get to have a cover and a shady area to avoid too much sun exposure. If ever you find it difficult to find a shaded area, make sure that you bring along a canopy tent to hang out under.

Wear the proper attire and bring extra clothes.

Since it is really hot during summer, you need to have the right clothing. Go for light-colored clothes that are suitable for summer season. Bring caps and hats to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun.

Bring a fan that is battery powered.

One of the downsides of camping during summer is that the weather is really hot and humid. It is something that you cannot avoid even if you set a camp in a shady area. Make sure that you bring a fan. At night, you can enjoy the natural and cooler breeze if you remove the rain fly of your tent.

Always have ample water with you.

During summer season, there is a tendency for people to get dehydrated especially when you are sweating a lot and doing certain activities. Take along with you enough water, ice and other kinds of beverages. You can just keep them in your cooler.

Prepare the food/meals that you need.

Go for foods that would not easily get spoiled like grilled chicken, sandwiches and vegetables.

Plan the details of your camping activity.

Before the actual camping date, it helps that you have already planned the details. In the morning go for a hiking or biking activity when it is still not that hot. In afternoon, you can have swimming/water activities.

Wear sunscreen all the time to protect your skin against the harmful rays of the sun.

How To Make Camping Fun For Kids

Camping is definitely fun. With all the different activities and other things that come into it, adults would often take the time to find the best camping sites where they can set up their tent and enjoy the outdoors. But camping is not just for adults, even kids can enjoy it. The challenge now is how to make it fun. Kids enjoy going out on a hike or cooking meals. After some time, many would complain that they feel bored or they no longer enjoy what they are doing. The key here is to prepare lots of activities that will challenge them. When they get to try new experience things, it can stir up their interest and they won’t end up getting bored.

Scavenger Hunt

One of the best activities for kids while in a camping site is to have a nature scavenger hunt. This is the perfect setting for this type of activity. Prepare a list of specific items that children have to find. You can either make it easy or difficult, depending. When you do, it helps that you are creative, so you can also challenge the kids and they enjoy searching for the specific items being asked from them.

Nature Hike

Since kids are curious and full of energy, it is normal for them to look and wander around. You cannot just expect them to be sitting in the tent. For them to enjoy camping, why not take them on a nature hike. Walk with them around the camp ground where they get to experience nature, seeing different species of flora and fauna. You can also share tales and other stories that are fascinating.

Playing with Water and Dirt

Kids are really playful and they do not care if they get dirty and messy. As long as there are adults assisting them while they are playing, it is fun for kids to sit lakeside and do different activities. You may want to add some buckets and shovels where they can just play there for hours.

There are different mini-games that kids love to play. From dart boards to other board games, you can just bring along with you your child’s favorite board game. Apart from board games, you can also play darts or you can also try out other small but fun challenges like guessing games, name that tune, etc.

Storytelling might be a simple activity, but kids would definitely enjoy it especially if you can choose a story that they like. This is perfect especially if you are doing storytelling by the fire. Find stories that capture their interests and will awaken their imagination. Read the story aloud and act it out.

Shadow Puppet Theater

Kids like puppet shows and even if it is a camping activity, you can still have a shadow puppet theater. Put on a white sheet and place it near the campfire. Create shadow puppets and make fun characters that kids will love. You can just move them with your hands to make actions and while you are telling stories.
